Innovation is the key to higher education
According to the changing scenario of the world, the need to make higher education relevant to the demand of time is also felt. This is a golden opportunity for higher education in India, when it can expand its knowledge and overcome its counterparts by adopting education that balances human, machine and climate.
The combination of human and machine has been centuries old. But in today's context, they seem to be equally competing at the cognitive level. The difference between them is becoming dull. There are many challenges for India in current situations, whose meaningful solutions can be found through higher education. We have immense power of the young class. It is a challenge to be given employment. This work becomes even more difficult when machines are becoming a substitute for humans. On the other hand, the crisis on air, water and soil is increasing due to climate change.
In these situations how can we prepare the next generation to preserve their existence?
To deal with current situations, education will need to give a new perspective, in which coordination of technology, humanity and ethics. He is aware of the ideas and methodology.
India's Higher Education Institute prepares its graduates for jobs or business. In the world of life, it is expected that six times in the life of a person to change business or to adapt to new skills. In this way, India's higher education seems very limited. Liberal arts are being given great importance in the current period, but it also has its limitations. There is no flexibility in it, nor the ability to coordinate with technology.
The purpose of higher education should be to prepare the youth not only for career but for life. Today, when there is a shortage of time around people all over the world, and relations between each other are rapidly changing; In such a situation, students should get such education that they can get the time to peep into their eyes. They can understand the purpose of their lives, know their role in the society, and decide how their thoughts and actions will affect the world. They should be taught to deal with such moral challenges, which will be indispensable in the future.
How can a higher education institute provide such education?
If such education is divided into courses, then in the base curriculum the students should be given the power of thinking and expression. Such initiatives should be done by the subjects of social science, natural science, humanities, arts and literature. The core curriculum should have skills development, ethics based logic, data science, design thinking and effective communication etc. for life. With a detailed study related to the subject in the focused curriculum, it is taught to deal with problems faced in real life. They should be considered in full view by encouraging intensive research in different areas. This will give you continuous flow of knowledge. By combining research with education, it can be made relevant.
Can Indian Higher Education Really Rule The World?
For this, it will have to adopt the education system which will be used to interconnect different areas. The campaign that the Government has chosen to choose excellent institutions is commendable. But work should not be stopped till the six selected institutions. These institutions will have to think beyond making their position in the top 500 institutions of the world in the next ten years. For this, institutions will have to pay attention to innovation. The government should have the flexibility to regulate educational institutions. By doing so many institutions will be made innovative.
